Halloween

It's hasn't been long since I've had someone who would Trick or Treat. For years I had somewhere to go. When the nephews were younger I would go to my hometown and go with them to whatever carnival or neighborhood they visited. My Jamie loved Halloween. He wouldn't really know it was coming until you started working on a costume for him. One year MyFella made him a costume that was inspired by the coffee logo of Juan Valdez. I remember that was the year the uncle put a whole bunch of kids in the back of his truck and took them all ToT. MyJamie would sit in the front seat of the truck and hop out with them all. The year of his spinal stenosis we had ToT in their parents front yard. Family members took up different locations and all the kids came in costume and walked between the trees. We dressed MyJamie up in a Cookie Monster outfit and pushed his wheelchair from place to place. After the stenosis was successfully treated we had years of Scooby Doo and one year revisited Cookie Monster with me dressed a big cookie via a sandwich board we made and his brother wore white to be the gallon of milk. Through the insistence and sometimes miracleof Google, I've been able to and sometimes forced to see the pictures. I can see the three of us dressed as our cookie trio. I can see MyJamie dressed as a construction man with borrowed blue collar uniforms, and one year as a farmer or scarecrow in denim overalls. It's weird how one can feel different things, opposing things, at the same time. I am happy that we did everything we did with MyJamie. Happy for the memories, happy for the pictures that exist due to smart phones. So very damn sad at the same time.
